About Us
BellaBooks started in the smallest of places, a hostel room, back when I was in my second year of medical school.
Honestly, it began out of frustration. My friends kept borrowing my books and forgetting to bring them back. But instead of getting upset, I noticed something. People actually wanted these books, they just didn't have easy access. So I started selling books to other students, moving from hostel to hostel, sharing stories I loved with anyone willing to read. It was simple, but it lit something in me.
By the time I got to clinical school, that little hustle had grown into an online store. I won't lie to you, juggling medical school with a growing business was hard. But every order, every message from someone who enjoyed a book, reminded me why I started. So I kept going.
Today, BellaBooks looks nothing like where it began. We have grown to over 20 locations across Nigeria and the UK, and we are now proudly based in Lagos with a physical store you can walk into, browse, shop, and simply enjoy. And the part I am still grateful for every day, we are known as the most beautiful bookstore in Lagos, Nigeria.
It is no longer just me running around with books either. There is now an amazing team behind BellaBooks, all working to make sure you get the best products and an experience that keeps you coming back. We have grown our shelves too. Beyond books, you will find journals, stationery, Bibles, and more. If there is one thing we are known for, it is being the bookstore you can walk into and find everything you need in one place.
We even created our own journal brand, five unique products that have sold over 14,000 copies in print in just three years. Something I once only imagined is now in the hands of thousands. I still can't get over that.
As a medical doctor and a shameless lover of books, my mission has stayed the same from day one. To make reading a normal part of everyday life, and give people access to the kind of beautiful books I always wished I had growing up.
Because to me, BellaBooks has never just been a bookstore. It is a community. A place where the love for reading is nurtured, celebrated, and shared.
